#1567 0828 11P The various names for God remind us of the divine power of God—Jehovah-Rophi means The-Lord-Who-Heals. Jehovah is God’s redemption name—or the One who is doing everything possible for us. Jehovah-Jirah means The-Lord-Who-Provides; and Jehovah-Nissi means The-Lord-Our-Banner—He fights our battles for us. He is all those things to us forever—God is the Everlasting Provider, Healer, and Defender of His people. God is to do everything for us, so we are not to depend on anything, anyone, any plan, or on any of our own strength. If we have been wronged, insulted, offended, or victimized, God says Romans 12:19 ”Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” Not a cross look, not a mean word, and not any legal action can be used to get revenge, but the whole matter placed before God in prayer. Our blessings depend on not defending ourselves by word or deed, and letting God do it all. We will be in a position of blessing and victory, like Joseph was, after he realized the need to repent of using his own efforts and asking the butler to obtain his release from prison. When Joseph learned that lesson, God was able to work in not only bringing about his release, but also in his promotion to governor of Egypt. Depending on some human plan or power, instead of the divine plan and power of God, is the cause of the problems, difficulties, and troubles we experience. Since God is Jehovah-Rophi, or Healer, then it means He is our Everlasting Physician. That divine name for God eliminates all human plans for healing. It means not using or depending on anything else to relieve pain or to heal sickness. Using a minor thing to correct a physical illness, is as rebellious as using a major dose of medication. It is not so much the small act that is wrong, but the major issue of allowing human power to take the place of divine power—of God. No true believer in the Bible ever employed any means of healing, but God. From the call of Abraham around 1900 B.C. to the closing acts of the apostles at approximately 60 A.D., the divine power of God, through faith in the atoning power of a blood sacrifice, was the means for all healing. It was, and still is, the divine plan God has written in the Bible. The first sickness and healing is recorded in the Old Testament Genesis 21 and the last in the New Testament Acts 28. A major point—the medical profession does not ask the sick person if they have repented, but they will give the person various reasons for the illness. They do not tell the patient to trust on the divine power of God, but they do tell them to take the prescribed medication. The doctor gives them a dose, writes out a bill, and leaves—not requiring the patient to repent, to turn away from sin, or to trust in God, but only to depend on the drug or medication given. If there is anyone who should repent of sin and trust in faith on the Atonement Blood of Christ, it is a person who is physically oppressed. If sickness is caused by our spiritual condition—and no doctor can help us with that—then it is only reasonable that we go before God in repentance and faith to have our spiritual condition corrected—which is having a willingness to trust God alone; then our physical healing follows. Every true believer in the Bible, who trusted God alone for physical healing, received the victory—there were no exceptions, and no one was refused. If it was sin that caused the illness, God always revealed it, told them to repent, and healed them in the present moment—because the shed Blood of Christ atoned for their sin. The believer has Jehovah-Rophi at their service day and night. The most serious opposition to Bible truth has always been against divine healing—Satan has always fought it. The devil will do anything to have people depend on some medical means—even suggesting that doctors are a gift; or are God’s helpers—but nothing could be further from the truth. 2010 statistics say that there are 800,000 iatrogenic deaths in the United States annually—making medical mistakes the leading cause of death. We know James 1:17 that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,” so medical science cannot be a gift from God. Only a full-truth teaching that explains the need to trust God alone for divine healing, through the atoning Blood of His Son, would have God’s blessing, endorsement, and approval. Any religious teaching that compromises on healing is more spiritually dangerous than open rebellion. Jesus said that those who were half-hearted or lukewarm on divine principles of faith and trust, would be expelled—Revelation 3:16 “because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.” Anyone who is not willing to trust God in faith for physical healing is in danger of being cast out of God’s family. We are compelled to deal directly with God when we need divine healing. The only way we can really get to know Him, is to pray directly to Him in humility, faith, and believing trust. If we are sick, we are required to make things right with God—asking that He inspire us to exercise faith in His divine promises, and asking that He touch our body with His divine power. When we are seriously oppressed, and we decide that whether we live or die, we are going to trust God in faith, we place our life in His hands. We are taking a serious risk on God’s faithfulness—that places us in the position Jesus said we are to be. Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate [his nearest kinsmen], yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.” We are required to risk our life on the faithfulness of God and the truthfulness of His Word. Satan is trying harder than ever to convince the world that God today is a changed God from the One in the Bible. The God Who came to earth and delivered His people; walked with them; supplied their needs; was interested in the most minute detail of their lives; rescued them from trouble; converted them, helped them, and healed them—has closed His eyes, shut His ears, and folded His hands—that is the lie of the devil today. Satan is telling the world that God is out of business, so you will have to fight your own battles, conquer your own enemies, heal your own afflictions, and avenge your own wrongs. God is not going to do anything for people until after they die. The devil is still lying and has convinced the world that God may have done those things thousands of years ago, but if they need help while living here on earth, He will not do one thing. That is the wicked lie and conspiracy of the devil! Anyone who accepts a false doctrine like that—which is a different gospel than the apostles taught—will surely forfeit their eternal soul. The apostle said Galatians 1:6-7 ”I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all,”—because there is no power to heal, deliver, or save. The God that the vast majority of professing Christians in the world are accepting—the God with folded hands, closed ears and eyes, and the God who has changed, is no God at all. He would be like a wooden idol—giving no hope for this life or the next. With divine healing, the first thing we are required to do is to confess our sins, and to believe in the Blood of Christ—then it will be plain to us that the God of the Old and New Testaments, and the Christ of love, mercy, and power that we read of in the Bible, is exactly the same today as He was in that day. When we are healed by God’s divine power, it reveals that He is just as loving, just as interested, and just as powerful as He was all through the Bible. Isaiah 46:9 “For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.” Malachi 3:6 ”For I am the LORD, I change not.” We can receive the same answers to prayer, and receive the same evidences of His power now, as they did then, because Hebrews 13:8 ”Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” When we read of all that took place in the Bible, and we depend on God to reveal its truth to us, it becomes a present reality—we can have the same answers to prayer, the same blessings, the same evidence of His presence, and the same victory over the devil’s power. The professing Christians of today do not know God, do not want to know Him, and have no faith in Him whatever. The apostle Jude said that such spiritual hypocrites Jude 1:12 “are late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots.” Religious people who give a pious outward appearance, but with self still ruling their hearts, and inwardly having no faith or trust on God for anything, are to be avoided. The Bible says we are to hate—Jude 1:23 “even the garment spotted by the flesh.” True believers, who truly trust God in believing faith for health, healing, provisions, justice and all other life issues here in this life, are to come away from those who do not trust God in faith. 2 Corinthians 6:17 ”Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” The apostle Revelation 18:4 heard a voice saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” Anyone who professes to be a Christian, but does not believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is worse than an infidel [having no religious beliefs]. Our only hope for eternity depends entirely on the truthfulness of Malachi 3:6 “I am the LORD, I change not,” and Titus 1:2 ”In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” Our hope for God’s kingdom depends on an unchanged Christ and a God who cannot change. Divine healing brings us face to face with the God of the Bible, and gives us the opportunity to prove, in reality, that we have the same God with us; that we can enjoy the same blessings and have the same answers to prayer, under the same conditions, as anyone had in the Bible. |
