Go Directly to God

Trusting God in faith, and utilizing His power for whatever we need and desire in this life is the foundation of all righteousness; and the lack of depending on His power in this life is the foundation of all sin.  The devil always seeks to get us away from these basic truths that we must know in order to receive the benefits of Christ’s Atonement.

It is a serious sin to steal, lie, deceive, or commit other such wrongs, but the basic sin from the beginning, and the worst offense against God, is trusting in some one, some thing, or some power instead of trusting Him—that is the seat of all sin.  We are not permitted to depend on our own plans apart of God’s plans—nor can we trust on any human power instead of divine power.

There are only two powers in the world so the issue is, whether we are depending on one or the other of these two powers.  We are either utilizing the power of Satan and self—those two always working in tandem; or depending on the power of God thru the Atonement sacrifice of Christ.  This faith is inspired by His Holy
Spirit—it is the Three in One working as One for the salvation of every believer.
John 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him.”

Every human being on earth is depending on, or living by faith in, either human power or divine power.  We are either trusting on our own ability, or we are depending on God; we are either trusting on the medical world, or we are trusting on the shed Blood of Christ for health and healing.

With finances, we are either depending on plans of the world by keeping some money on hand if an emergency arises; or we are trusting on God in faith with no resources on hand even if an emergency arises—being convinced of, and knowing that, our trust on Him in faith is required for a righteous standing before Him.

Satan makes it seem impossible to make that final step—to depend on God alone, and to place our financial situation totally into His hands.  If we will truly surrender our life to God first, He will lead us to a position of total dependence on Him second.  Even though most people are not aware of this fact, it is true that we are either depending on some earthly human plan, or we are depending on God’s divine plan for money.

God’s salvation plan is to lead us to that position of absolute dependence on Him for everything—not only for the money we need, but more importantly for that righteous standing everybody needs.  Depending on human power, plans, pills, prescriptions, or procedures is the center of all other sins.

God does not forsake anyone who is not yet totally depending on Him, but the Bible does teach that it is our obligation, responsibility, and choice to consecrate our life to God, and to follow His will in everything.  We must be led to a place of total dependence on God alone for everything in this temporary life; and to be fully depending on Him to have us ready for the next eternal life.

This final decision to depend only on God for everything is what salvation really means.  Anything less than that, is really no spiritual life at all.  There is no such thing as good and poor grades of righteousness; or good and poor standards of salvation—no such thing.  There is only one gospel, and one sacrifice, whereby anyone will be saved.

The only standard and the only plan is to give our life fully to God, and make the final decision to depend totally on Him by the power and inspiration of His Spirit.  We must allow God to teach us what we need to know in order to be righteous before Him.  John 16:13 ”When He has come—the Spirit of Truth—He will guide you into all the truth”—not half and not some—but all the Truth.

[Hymn] Oh what peace we often forfeit; O what needless pain we bear; All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.  That is the story; and that is the meaning of Philippians 4:6-7 ”Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all [human] understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The entire teaching of the Bible is that we go directly to God for everything.  This going directly to God when facing any problem, is in stark contrast to the world that will go directly to human assistance at the first sign of trouble.  Professing Christians today go directly to human help; and if that fails, they may then offer prayers to God.

We cannot know how many through the years have come to know God’s Truth, been filled with His Holy Spirit, and have been healed, delivered, supplied, and saved by going directly to God for everything in this life.  When all our confidence and faith is in the living God, He is then able to do marvelous things for us.

God is no respecter of persons, so He will help anyone who truly turns to Him in faith.  The devil works incessantly to turn people away from trusting God in faith, and he will have people say or do anything possible to have us trust in some prescription, pill, procedure, or policy of human invention.  It is always Satan and self behind the scenes in all such matters.

At the first sign of trouble or testing, we must go directly to God, and expect to receive a deliverance—that is His divine plan.  The devil will not oppose us if we depend on human power for healing, but he will seriously oppose us if we decide to trust on the Atonement of Christ and the divine power of God.  When Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath Luke 6:10-11 His enemies “were wild with rage and began to discuss what to do with him.”

If we need a deliverance or physical healing from God, Satan must be bound and his power rebuked before we can receive the victory.  1 John 3:8 “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”  We must go directly and immediately to God whenever help or healing is needed—just like Bible believers did.

There is much spiritual darkness, and lack of knowing God, in the so-called Christian world today.  Romans 5:6 ”When we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”  If God would give us His only begotten Son, He would also give us any lesser gift that much more.  Romans 8:31-32 ”What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

The shed Blood of Christ releases the divine power of God—but we cannot receive help from either human or divine sources until we make the decision to depend on that power.  The entire gospel message is that we turn our back on human power, and put our trust on divine power—on the living God.  Psalm 146:3-4 ”Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man [mortal men], in whom there is no help.  His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.”

Human power eventually fails, but divine power will ultimately deliver, heal, and save. 5-6 ”Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever [who remains faithful forever].”

Satan has the power to deceive and destroy people, and he often succeeds because so many are not aware or not willing to resist.  Jeremiah 17:5 "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.”  The devil brings sorrow, trouble, sickness, and poverty on people eventually, and then destroys their soul forever.

7-8 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD [goes directly to God in prayer for everything], whose confidence is in him.  He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes [their dependence is totally on God who will always be faithful]; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

The message of the Bible is to cease from our own plans, ways, and ideas, and to ask God to teach us what we need to know.  We must be able to say All my help from Thee I bring.  The Blood of Christ makes it all possible.  1 Corinthians 1:18 ”For the Message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are on the way to perdition, but it is the power of God to those whom He is saving.”  When we believe the story of the cross, the power of God is ready to work.

We either believe and trust in human power, or we believe and trust in divine power—made possible through Atonement.  God promises every good gift to His children—and we are His children when we go directly to Him in faith for everything. The Blood of Christ places that divine power at our service.  Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

The Blood of Christ has made us free; the Word says we are free when we have prayed in believing faith; so we must begin to act free—depending on the divine power of God to help us.  Anything we ask anyone to do, or anything we endeavor to do, we are to depend on the power of God to bring success.

The secret of depending on, and trusting in, the divine power of God, is to do everything in the Name of Jesus Christ, and to make the decision to put all human dependence aside forever.  Isaiah 65:24 "It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

That is a truth we cannot hear too often or too much; Colossians 3:17 ”Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”  When we go directly to God, victory is guaranteed.
